Mesothelioma Information
The most serious of all asbestos- related diseases. It is a form of cancer where the malignant cells are located in the sac lining of the lung (pleura) or abdomen (peritoneum). It can take many years after exposure to asbestos before the disease appears. At this time there are treatments, but no known cure, for mesothelioma.

US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
The main federal environmental regulation agency's Web site includes detailed information about pollutants and toxins, including their effects on human health.

A database containing information about hazardous chemicals and occupational diseases.

National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)
NIOSH is the main federal agency charged with researching and preventing workplace injury and illness. Its Web site includes a wealth of information about workplace health hazards, prevention tips and chemicals workers may come into contact with on the job.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
OSHA, part of the US Department of Labor, works to improve workplace safety and health. Web site includes workplace rules and regulations and detailed information about safety measures that should be taken in the workplace to protect employees' health.

TOXNET® - Toxicology Data Network
The Specialized Information Services (SIS) Division of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) produces this collection of databases about toxicology and environmental health.

Tox-Town®
Hosted by the National Library of Medicine, this site provides information on toxic chemicals and environmental health risks.

National Center for Childhood Health: Lead Poisoning Prevention Program
Important resource for parents concerned about lead poisoning and the risk it poses to their children. Provides information on toy recalls, lead-based paint, state and local programs on prevention, education and clean-up and more.

US Consumer Product Safety Commission: Toy Recalls
Provides an up-to-date list of children's toys that have been recalled, including those recalled because of toxic substances.

Sick Building Syndrome
Resource provided by the Center for Disease Control on Sick Building Syndrome. Provides information on the types of symptoms people may have who have come into contact with toxins in a sick building, causes of the syndrome and methods of prevention and eradication.
